'Summer Slipping'

Summer's mournful cry into the gray sky
lifts itself to be consoled within the pine tops
Adjoining, then falling, the white snow frames the river bed
Clinging to the banks as sweetly as a babe to it's mother;

The quiet, cold of winter's numbing is charged as the river rolls by
Textures of earth rest in the frosted season; the laurel hides ,weary with waiting ....
The river whispers, 'fear not' you will be kissed again.
